When it comes to discreet straightening, lingual braces are perhaps one of the best options available.
They use the same tried and tested system of brackets and wires as conventional braces – but an ingenious design trick makes lingual braces almost impossible to see.
Where other discreet straighteners rely on clear or tooth-coloured materials to achieve secret straightening, lingual brackets and wires affix to the rear of teeth where they can’t be seen, even when you look in the mirror.
They’re a great alternative to lengthy treatment in traditional braces, especially if you’d prefer not to draw attention to your teeth during the straightening process.
We’ll begin by taking an impression of your mouth for skilled dental technicians to fabricate an accurate lingual brace. As soon as we receive the brace from the laboratory, you’ll be invited back to the clinic for your fitting.
Conventional brackets are affixed to the teeth one-by-one, but we use a different approach to fitting lingual braces. They are attached simultaneously, using a custom tray to keep them in place during the bonding process.
Once fixed in place, lingual braces get to work straightening teeth right away. Braces usually require a short adjustment period while you get used to them – and lingual braces are no different. You may notice some lisping and increased salivation, but these usually disappear in a few days.
After fitting, you’ll need to return to the clinic every 6-8 weeks to have the braces adjusted. When the treatment is complete, we’ll provide you with a retainer to prevent teeth from moving back to their former position.
